December 28 1998 Carol Lavell and Gifted The
late great Gifted was a gift to American Dressage. A Hanovarian by Garibaldi
II out of Lola by Lombard, Gifted got his show experience early on when
Carol would bring him to competitions along with the older horses. Wherever
he competed his huge extensions at the trot, and air bound flying changes
wowed the crowds. Carol Lavell is one of the best-known American and International dressage riders. She won a Team Bronze medal on her horse Gifted at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. Carol Lavell and Gifted were also successful competitors at National, North American, Pan American and World Dressage competitions. Lavell was named 1990 and 1992 U.S. Olympic Committee Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year; received the prestigious USET Whitney Stone Cup in 1992; and was named 1992 American Horse Shows Association/Hertz Equestrian of the Year. |
