February 21 2000 Katie Poulin's Winters Impression
Making an
impression on the judge's panel at the 2000 Southern Comfort CDI-W-USET,
held February 10-13 at the Clarcona Horseman's Park, Clarcona, Florida,
Kathryn Poulin and her new mount, Winters Impression got a leg up in the
first qualifying round for the 2000 North American Young Rider Championship
selection process. Purchased by her father, Olympic medallist Michael Poulin from Judy de Winter in Holland, the 9-year-old KWPN Dutch Warmblood gelding is by the English Thoroughbred, Mytens xx, bred in America by Elmendorf Farm and owned by owned by M.J. Hell, from Offenseth, Germany, and Henk Nijhof in Holland. The dam, Clever Lady is by Lucky Boy. Lucky Boy xx born in 1966 was bred by H. Katz in 's Gravenhagen, Holland. He raced and of his 27 entries, he won 6 and ranked in the top five 10 times. He has 27 approved sons. With a 69.744% in the Young Rider Team Test, and a 65.439% in the individual, the Young Rider veteran who won the NAYRC Dressage Team Gold Medal in 1999 for Region Three (Southeast USA) with thoroughbred Herb Commander, has begun the qualifying process with one of the highest averages recorded. |
