February 27 2000 Tuny Page and Claire
Arlene "Tuny"
Page brought her new horse to America this spring, intending to maintain
her training schedule during the mare's quarantine stay in Virginia. However,
sometimes some of the best planning can go astray, as Tuny discovered
she and husband David Page were expecting their first child! Able to continue riding after the first month of pregnancy, Tuny came to Florida and won both Prix St George Classes entered this season, at The Snowbird's Paradise in Orlando, with a 68.250, and The Florida Dressage Classic, in Wellington with a 67.667. Expecting a baby girl, June 12 and with her britches expanding, Tuny Page, and her talented 8 year old Holsteiner mare, Claire, may be calling their performance in Miami at Tropical Park, February 26-27, 2000 their "swan song" for the season. It will be an excellent way to leave things as this duo (or trio) scored a 71.5% in the Intermediare I under the watchful eye of Olympian and Dressage judge Michael Poulin. Tuny, a well known trainer and FEI Level rider in America trained last year in Europe with Jonny Hilberath, and Conrad Schumacher. Familiar with horse hunting in Europe for her clients, Tuny finally found her "dream horse" from Judy Allmeling, wife of well know German veterinarian Gunther Allmeling from Hamburg, Germany. Formerly ridden by Claire Thomas Von Samson, Claire is by the Holsteiner stallion Cassini out of the mare Umaica sired by the KWPN Dutch stallion, Appleking.
