Evi Strasser and Quantum Tyme
Canada was represented for the first time in the 2000 World Championship for Young Dressage Horses held June 22-25, at CHampion Gelderland, Papendal Arnhem, The Netherlands. Evi Strasser and the Oldenburg gelding by Quattro Quredo de Paul finished fourth in a field of thirty-five of the finest young five-year-old dressage horses in the world.
Normally the final has the top 15 horses, but due to a tie there were seventeen horses that presented themselves for the third time, before the judges' panel of Mr. W Earnes (NED), Mr. P Engel (GER) and president and spokesperson for the panel, Mr. Stephen Clarke (GBR). The judges looked for quality of movement during the FEI test ridden before them, and discussed among them each horse. After the rider's final salute, Clarke explained to the large and enthusiastic crowd, what they saw and scored each horse on a scale of 1 to 10. "The elastic uphill canter " greatly impressed the judges as a quality to look for in "a horse for the future".
