Americans
came to know the German trainer and rider, Rudolph Zeilinger during the
1996 Olympic year as the trainer of Michelle Gibson and the late trakhener
stallion, Peron, who helped America win the Olympic Team Bronze. While he is a successful representative in competition for Germany with the Hanoverian Livijno, (by Lysander) placing in the top five in Bad Salzuflen, Wiesbaden, and The German Championships, the modest, and hardworking protégé of the late Willi Schultheis, will most likely be attending the 2000 Olympic Games as the trainer of the Danish Dressage Team. Zeilinger has been training the Danish Dressage Team since 1997. In the Nation's Cup for Dressage at the Aachen CHIO, the Danes who were the bronze medal team at the 1999 European Championships, finished second. In the Coastriders Aachen Grand Prix, the winner of the CDI Wiesbaden Grand Prix, Lone Joergenson and FBW Kennedy, and Lars Pedersen who placed sixth in Arnhem, with the Hanoverian stallion Blue Horse Cavan, were the highest placing individuals among the power packed German riders, finishing fifth and eighth respectively. Even with the top Dutch horse and rider combinations staying home after a high scoring performance at the Dutch Championships, Denmark's achievement at Aachen proved what most have been predicting, a strong chance for an Olympic Team medal.
