March 20, 2001 WEF Dressage Classic: Paxton and Lavell Reign Supreme
Young rider Jackie Paxton and Cinbad, (Cellebrio x Duellinde) won the
Young Riders Team and Individual tests, and Paxton also placed third behind
Courtney Raiser in both tests with Fly Over, (Fruehlingsrausch x Pia).
She has been accepted to ride at Karen Rehbein's barn in Germany this
summer, and also hopes to ride at the North American Young Riders Championships
representing Region 2. She has earned enough points in Region 3, but has
to go to one competition in her own region to qualify.
Carol Lavell and Much Ado won third level test two and were second in third level test one but had to scratch from their last ride, third level test three, when the horse developed and abscess in his hoof. "We were all braided and ready to go," said Lavell, "and we were warming up. Suddenly he was off to the left." She said that he got better and better in his work as the show went on; if his scored keep improving, that exponentially, the competition better look out!
