Susan Dutta and Xandarius Fernando, a Symbiotic Ensemble
Susan Dutta had a collection of victories over the weekend, winning the Grand
Prix Special (64.109) with Xandarius Fernando, the same horse that she rode
to win the World Cup at the Derby. She said that "Charlie," was very well
balanced and more relaxed on the last day of the show. "Tina and I talked,
and I changed a few things and it worked," she said. "The Special is a hard
test," she continued. "To ride it mistake-free was a big goal for us and
builds a lot of confidence."
Xandarius, L.L.C. and Joseph Zada, who also owns Custom Made, David O'Connor's Olympic Gold winning three-day event horse, own Charlie, a 13-year-old Danish gelding by Fruehling. Says Dutta, "I don't think there's another supporter who does as much for horse sports as he does, including dressage, show jumping and eventing. He's into it all. He rides dressage too, but he's quiet about it. He just wants to see the sport grow; he has some really good ideas for next year." Dutta and her husband Tim also own West Side Lady, a nine-year-old Hannoverian mare, (Westberry x Lombard), ridden by Tina Konyot to wins in the USET Prix Saint George (69.750) and the Intermediaire-1 (69.917).
