Wednesday December 5, 2001 George Williams Continues Success Story in Europe
Williams, who is currently training with a USET grant at Klaus Balkenhol's farm, saddled his Westfalian mare Rocher (Rolls Royce x Fruhlingsstern) for two FEI level tests. In the Grand Prix, he scored 1380 points and placed fifth. It was Isabell Werth with her bright new Grand Prix horse Apache OLD (by Alabaster) who won the class with 1497 points. In the Special, Williams spiced up his act and scored 1486 points, good for a fourth place. Werth dominated this class too aboard Apache and gathered 1612 points in total. Six riders were awared a USET grant this year which offered them the opportunity to train in Europe and gain valuable show experience at the competitions there. Sue Blinks, Christine Traurig, Debbie McDonald, George Williams, Guenter Seidel and Arlene Page-Full were the lucky elite riders that received the grant. Text by Astrid Appels Related
