Dressage To Be Represented At Salt Lake Winter Olympics

Ebling, Gogan and GucciGladstone, NJ—February 4, 2002—Equestrian sports will have its moment in the spotlight at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games when U.S. Equestrian Team (USET) dressage champion Jan Ebeling of Moorpark, CA teams with Utah’s Margo Gogan in two Pas-de-Deux performances on February 9 and 10.

Ebeling, who won the USET Intermediaire Championship in 2000, will ride the Dutch Warmblood Gucci on whom he was USET Intermediaire Reserve Champion in 1998. Gogan, the Utah-based rider and trainer, will perform on Barron.

The Pas-de-Deux demonstrations will be held in conjunction with the Olympic Command Performance Rodeo at the Davis County Legacy Center on Saturday and Sunday evenings, February 9 and 10. The shows start at 8:00 pm local time each night.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our sport to new audiences,” said Maureen Pethick, USET Director of Dressage Activities. “Obviously, dressage receives much attention during the summer Olympics but this is a novel opportunity to showcase the grace and beauty of dressage to a large number of people who may not be familiar with it. We are most thankful to the organizers of the Salt Lake City Games for providing us this opportunity.”
