Ulla Salzgeber Wins 2002/2003 Kampmann Cup Finals

Rusty and UllaWith world class scores did Ulla Salzgeber win the 2002/2003 Kampmann Cup Finals, held at the CDI Bremen this weekend. Riding her number one mount Rusty (by Rebuss), Salzgeber scored a sizzling 79.44% in the Grand Prix Special and left all competition behind her.

Salzgeber only felt the breeze in her neck from the Danish Lone Jorgenssen who scored a magnificent 78.48% in the Special. Jorgenssen, of course, rode her Baden Wurttemberger FWB Kennedy (by Tiro).

Making their rentree on the scene after their last outing at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez were Bremen citizen Klaus Husenbeth and his Hanoverian gelding Piccolino (by Prince Thatch xx). Husenbeth and his elegant bay horse were in top shape and with 72.92% in the Grand Prix (2nd) and 72.56% in the Special (4th) they placed fourth overall in the Cup Finals. Isabell Werth and her good old Anthony FRH (by Argument) had a hausse this weekend and scored 70.44% (4th) and 76.32% (3rd).

Relevant and LisaMuch was expected from Lisa Wilcox, who saddled her number one mount Relevant (by Rubinstein) for the Kampmann Cup. It was the second time that her international "rivals" had gathered again since Jerez, but in Bremen the charming American did not fully live up to the expectations. In the Grand Prix, Wilcox and Relevant scored 70.28% (5th) and in the Special they received 71.76% (6th) from the panel of judges. With the absence of both Nadine Capellmann and Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, a number two position in the Kampmann Cup was within reach, but unfortunately not realised.

The 2002/2003 Kampmann Cup was a show circuit that run over several top international competitions, which included the CDI Dortmund 2002, Hardenberg 2002, the 2002 German Championships in Mannheim, the CDI Lingen 2002, the World Equestrian Games in Jerez 2002, the Euroclassics 2002, the C.H.I. Berlin 2002, the CDI Frankfurt 2003, and the CDI Rolinck Cup Münster 2003.

Several interesting combinations were shown in the arena of the Bremer Stadthalle, including Ulla Salzgeber and her new horse Antschar, a 9-year old Trakehner. Aboard the light footed Antschar, Salzgeber won the Intermediaire I with 866 points and left Prix St Georges winners Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and Sterntaler behind her. Linsenhoff dominated the St Georges with her newest hit, the Oldenburg licensed stallion Sterntaler (by Sion).
