Friday October 17, 2003 High Performance Level at Region 7 Championships in California
Even in the absence of the West Coast's greatest Grand Prix riders, a decent group of big tour riders gathered at Rancho Murieta for the title match. It was Leslie Webb on Harmony's Cassiano who took highest honors in the USDF Grand Prix Championship. Scoring 65.625% for her ride and beating second placed Mark Carter on Haydn, Webb claimed her first 2003 Champion's title besides her two other reserve titles, the CDS Horse of the Year Grand Prix (61.667%) and the CDS Horse of the Year Grand Prix Freestyle (69.800%). Those latter two classes were won by Leslie Morse on Kington with 64.167% and 73.937% scores. In the FEI small tour, six new Region 7 champions were decorated. Nicole Perry riding Rubino Bellissimo (67.250%), Leah Singh on Karansa (65.125%), junior/young rider Kelly Pestana on Elite (66.250%), Jennifer Hoffman with Petit Danseur (67.875%), Janice Carrasco with Mirage (66.875%) and Maurine Frey on Ashante (64.250%). On the small tour CDS Horse of the Year honor roll riders such as Chelsey Sibley with Ijsselmeer (72.688%), Rachel Satory with Saavedra Robello (68.250%), Jane Thomas with Wishfull (69.500%), Leslie Morse with Tip Top (69.250%) and Anne Seemann with May Devil (66.250%) were listed.
