Monday October 20, 2003 Cornelia Endres’s ‘Pony Only’ Clinic At Gleneden
Just imagine this storybook setting: wooded rolling foothills near the Hudson River patterned with lush green pastures and dotted with horses grazing, miles of wooden fencing along with miles of winding trails through the woods, big, pale-yellow old-fashioned barns with cupolas, a large outdoor white-fenced ring capable of holding four dressage arenas … all nestled in the little valley of this hillside farm. This is where Lendon Gray and her Dressage4Kids, Inc. and Region 8 hosted the first dressage clinic just for ponies, in Bedford, NY, at Gleneden Dressage. It was perhaps the first of its kind in the U.S. Cornelia Endres of Dulmen, Germany, was Lendon’s marvelous clinician for the three days in early August. Cornelia (‘Conny’ as she likes to be called) won many prestigious accolades as a young rider; she received her diploma as a sports coach in 1977 and then became Head of the Youth Department of the German Riding Association. Since then her riders have won 17 team and 10 individual Gold Medals at European Championships. In the past three years, the riders under her leadership have won all the individual medals.
