Springtime Wins Positive Start Perpetual Trophy
Wright
rode Limestone Springtime, 16.1, , 5, to a first in USEF Training Level
Test 2 Open with a very respectable 74.231. Limestone Spring, a Canadian
warmblood, is by Good Times out of a Goldschläger mare and is partly
owned by Wright and Limestone Stables in Kingston. Also, the pair won
the Positive Start Perpetual Trophy sponsored by Positive Step Farm
which goes to the first rider of the season to score 70% at the Zada
Enterprises LLC Detroit Dressage I/II shows, which Spring did with a
70.46 in Training 1 Open on the first day.
Limestone
Stables produces fine jumpers as well as dressage horses and Wright
found the enthusiastic Spring bounding over puddles to make for a few
uneven dressage scores but Wright was basically happy with her performance
and prospects, "having had an eye on her since she was a weanling."
As
a youngster, Wright rode hunter/jumper and eventing and ended up in
dressage. She recalls that in eventing she received high marks in dressage
and lost them on cross country. After college, Wright spent a year in
Switzerland training with George Wahl and Christine Stuckelburger. After
that she went for an MBA and then devoted 2 years to IT consulting.
In l992 she turned away from the regular work world and opened her training
facility. She hasn't looked back. "I'm glad to have the education
because it freed me to know I really chose horses. I do them because
I want to."
