2005 Gold Coast Opener Starts Dressage Season at Wellington

Three days of super dressage at the first CDI of 2005, brought out the crowds, from sunrise till sunset, to watch as four rings filled with action from Training level to Grand Prix. With perfect weather, preceding the cold snap which moved in Sunday afternoon, the Gold Coast Dressage Club headed by President Noreen O’Sullivan adding their special touch; great food and parties, starting with the “Inspection Reception” and topped off with a competitor’s party hosted by Janne Rumbough Saturday night complete with a fashion show presented by Sho Clothes, and dancing.

It was a big weekend preceding the opening of the Winter Equestrian Festival, a horse auction at Nona Garson’s, the Grand opening of the new headquarters for Phelps Media Group (no relation, but colleagues in promoting equestrian sports), and plenty of warm up jumper classes.

On the scene and working hard were our Euro partner Astrid Appels, our new “apprentice” Margaret “Maggie” Heroy, and staff writer Beverly Zimmer who will be delivering an in depth report later this week. Meanwhile, results are on-line.
