Sunday February 20, 2005 KWPN Keur Stallion Ferro Passed Away
Bred by Mr Gerrits and owned by Adriaan van der Goor and Jan Lamers, Ferro was by Ulft out of Brenda (by Farn). "This is such an enormous blow for us," Adriaan van der Goor stated. "Susanne de Klein rode him yesterday and he was super, just like at the KWPN stallion licensing. It seems to be fate that Ferro had to die so soon after Den Bosch." Only two weeks before his passing, Ferro was to be seen in a special farewell ceremony at the 2005 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch. There, he performed in a beautiful pas de deux to music with his licensed son Lorenzo and showed in a quadrille with four of his offspring. The 'Black Pearl' once again demonstrated his brilliant piaffe-passage which became his trademark. Ferro rose to stardom under Coby van Baalen. He won the team silver medal at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, 1999 European Championships and 2000 Olympic Games. Coby and Ferro's career highlight was in 2000, when they placed second in the World Cup Finals in 's Hertogenbosch, scoring over 80% for their kur to music. Related Links |
