Pony Power – PhelpsPhotos.com Covers the 2005 USEF Pony Finals

Once a year over 500 ponies and pony riders, trainers, breeders and parents come together in one of the highlighted events of the United States Equestrian Federation. The beautiful Kentucky Horse Park is location for this esteemed event through 2006, providing an ideal setting and facilities for handling an event of this size and importance.

The event features classes in Green and Regular Working Hunter, as well as a Pony Jumper division. For four days from 7 am to 10 pm, riders and ponies from the entire country who have qualified are put to the test, showing in model, hack and over fences for the hunter divisions and equitation. Perfectly groomed ponies and pigtailed handler go through the motions of standing their mounts for the scrutiny of a skilled and knowledgeable judge’s panel. The influx of the European breeds has become a strong influence, in this highly competitive division of the industry.

In the Jumper ring, held in the indoor in the evenings there is a totally different atmosphere as many are knocked out of the competition dropping rails. The Gold and Silver winners however were determined by just one rail after three clear rounds throughout the event.
