Equestrians
Gather To Support Local Riding Program in Wellington
Equestrians
from around the globe are teaming up to help other young equestrians
this year at the Vinceremos Benefit "Look to the Stars 2006"
to be held at the International Polo Club in Wellington, Florida on
Friday, February 24th. Tickets are still available for a great night
for a great cause, but they are selling fast. Well known equestrians
Dr. Cetty Weiss and Arlene "Tuny" Paige, have come alongside
Vinceremos in this effort to raise funds for their handicapped riding
program located in Loxahatchee. Expenses such as staff, therapists,
horses' care and other expenses on the property need to be provided
in order for a great program like this to continue its work ever year.
Hundreds of children benefit from this program and through this therapy
is making great progress. Cetty's involvement stems from her love for
kids. "Being a mother of 4, it's hard to look at an opportunity
to help these kids and not do everything within your power to help."
Tuny and her husband were introduced to the program about 7 years ago
and fell in love with the idea. They have been diligently working ever
since to help ensure Vinceremos' future.
Many supporters have been hard at work planning an extravagant night
of cocktails, live and silent auctions, awards to program participants,
dinner, and of course, dancing! 400 guests will be supporting the cause
including George Morris and his Olympic Gold Medal winning USET Team,
Dressage riders, Jennifer Baumert, Jackie Brooks, Michelle Gibson, Chris
Hickey, Ruth Hogan-Paulsen, Bent Jensen, Nancy Later, Karen Lipp, Bill
McMullen, Oded Shimoni, Bill Warren, John Zopatti, Marco Bernal, Todd
Flettrich, Ilse Schwartz, Linda Smith, Dorothy Morkis, Pam Goodrich,
Kathy Connelly, Susie Dutta, Cesar Parra and Pierre St. Jacque.
Highlights of the live auction to be held following dinner include a
Customized golf cart, 6 skybox tickets to the Olympic Ice Show, a night's
stay at the Ritz Carlton, vacations in Paris, Vail and New York, a yacht
donated in Naples for a cocktail cruise, a table for 6 at Stadium Jumping's
"Dancing Under the Stars" evening, international horse air
transportation one way, a catered dinner for 8, car transport, an impressive
list of riding lessons with top professionals. All of the local retailers
have generously donated items as well.
Another
popular auction item is purchasing a Vinceremos horse's care for one
year. In 2005 a group of Dressage riders got together to support a horse,
and others can too, which greatly helps to defray expenses. This
night of fun also showcases Wellington's top riders' desire to give
back to a worthy cause. Tuny has noticed this heart during her calls
to get others involved. "It's very edifying to talk to people in
the sport, explain your cause and have them stop what they are doing
and help. Riders respond with,” No problem, it would be a privilege.
Some of the best professionals and athletes in the sport have a heart
for it and just get it. You go into the horse community and nobody says
no". By supporting this cause, equestrians have the opportunity
to fund an organization that can not run with out donor funding. If
no funds come in, the stable is forced to run like a normal stable,
turning away children in need whose parents are financially unable to
pay. it also gives equestrians this opportunity to think beyond competition
and business, yet they are still in the horse world that they understand
and feel comfortable in.
So please join us for a fun night dedicated to some very special children
in need at the Vinceremos "Look to the Stars" evening of giving.
