Euro Update: Wayne Channon In Command at CDI-W Lipica

Wayne Channon on Lorenzo British world class performance rider Wayne Channon became the undisputed winner of the World Cup Qualifier in Lipica, Slovenia. Aboard his KWPN stallion Lorenzo CH, Channon topped the leader board in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Kur to Music and was in command of a field of thirty international competitors.

Channon and Lorenzo CH (Ferro x Wolfgang) scored a winning 70.125% in the Grand Prix after a virtually fault-free ride. The highlight of their test was Lorenzo’s trademark piaffe and passage, for which they received 8s and 9s. In the Kur to Music, the combination shifted into a higher gear and aced the field with an impressive 75.000%. They performed their unique Slings & Kerkhof composed freestyle “Il Passeggiato,” which earned them a 9 for their music.

Channon had a great feeling on his horse in both rides. “I started out carefully, but once Lorenzo settled into the test, I found that there was plenty more left in the tank and turned the engine up a bit. He wasn’t tired at all at the end of the ride. It was superb,” said an ecstatic Channon.

Helgstrand Achieves Royal Scores in Castle Park of Wiesbaden

In the beautiful castle park of the pink castle of Wiesbaden, Germany, Danish Andreas Helgstrand won the Grand Prix kur tour aboard Blue Hors Cavan. Aboard this Hanoverian gelding, Helgstrand scored 72.083% in the Grand Prix and 80.150% in the Kur to Music. Aboard the Danish warmblood mare Matine, he reigned supreme in the Grand Prix for Special. With a phenomenal score of 76.917%, the young Danish star stunned the big German contingent that was competing there. The Special was won by Isabell Werth on Warum Nicht.

Luttgen, Van Lanen and Senden Kur Winners at CDI-PJYR Stadl Paura

FEI Pony rider Louisa Luttgen, junior rider Chantal van Lanen and young rider Desiree Senden won the finals of the youth riders competition hosted in Stadl Paura, where the 2006 European Junior/Young Riders championships are going to be this summer. Luttgen won the pony individual test on Dornik B, while junior Van Lanen and her Dutch bred Beaujolais and young rider Senden on Noblesse bested the field in the kur to music.

Fighting Windmills, Friesian Style

Competing a Friesian horse at a more serious level can be an experience similar to fighting windmills. Several respected trainers from Germany have witnessed on this account. "I am only interested in extraordinary horses. If the character and quality are right, I don't care about the breed.
