Let The Games Begin!
DressageDaily On the Scene at the World Equestrian Games – Aachen 2006

The reports and photos have begun to rush in as our all-star reporters and photographers at the World Equestrian Games begin to deliver. The spectacle of opening ceremonies was captured in text and photos by Diana DeRosa, as well as Laura Petroff sitting in the cozy VIP section in the stands.

The historical city of Aachen all decked out for The Games, and our pals, Father Mack and his wife Ruth have been put to work sending their images and impressions as they wander about. We have other WEG journals as well, from the US Dressage Team who have horse inspection today, to reports of the antics and training session of the eventers, the extreme equestrians. Charlene Strickland has arrived and is settled in the Kasteel ter Worm, where we have arranged rooms for several Americans and Canadians. Charlene will be reporting throughout the games with a perspective on bloodlines, the foundation of our sport. We also have Canadians Karen Robinson and photographer Cealy Tetley ready to begin. And of course, our longtime Euro partner Astrid Appels who will be commuting from her home in Belgium, covering the Dressage and more.

With the 100 Mile Endurance race, kicking off the competition today, we will bring you news, photos, stories and perspectives from our updated World Equestrian Games spot on the World Wide Web. Enjoy, and cheer our teams onto victory!
