Monday September 25, 2006 Stallions Show off at Die Deutsche Hengstparade at 2006 World Equestrian Games - Page 3 Sire Line Furioso II. Furioso II was sired by the English Thoroughbred, Furioso xx, imported to France (1946-1967). Furioso was of the Matchem branch of Thoroughbreds, the same branch as Man o’War and tracing back to the Godolphin Arabian. Furioso II’s dam was a Selle Francais (at that time, known as Anglo-Norman) mare, Dame de Ranville. She traced back to Orange Peel xx, considered the founding Thoroughbred sire of the Anglo-Norman crossbreds. Furioso II was imported to Oldenburg (1967-1986). As the first Anglo-Norman to influence German breeding, two of his outstanding jumpers are For Pleasure and Heisman. He also sired Voltaire out of a daughter of the jumping sire, Gotthard.
Sire line Ramzes. The Anglo-Arabian Ramzes was a prominent refinement sire in many breeding areas. Foaled in Poland in 1937, this gray stallion came to Westfalia in 1948. The Ramzes sons Radetzky and Raimond were Ramzes' most famous breeding stallions. Radetzky (1954-1974) produced 20 approved sons, including Remus I and Remus II, and Raimondo. A grandson of Remus I was Romadour II (1972-1983). This influential contemporary sire was the sire of the dressage star Rembrandt. His son Rosenkavalier sired Rubinstein I, a popular modern sire of dressage horses. Royal Diamond (Rubinstein I—Inschallah AA; 1994 Old.) represented this branch of the Ramzes sire line. Raimond's (Holst.) most famous son was Ramiro, a champion jumper and prepotent sire. Out of a Cottage Son xx mare, this stallion has sired offspring for the Holsteiner, Westfalen, and Dutch breeds. Rocket Star (Ramiro-Landgraf I; 1988 Holst.) was accompanied by his son Rockwell (damsire Grandus; 1993 Westf.). |
