Monday September 25, 2006 Stallions Show off at Die Deutsche Hengstparade at 2006 World Equestrian Games - Page 5 Of 35 sons, two of his most famous jumper sires were Lord, of a Cottage Son dam, and Landgraf I, foaled 1968 out of an Aldato (by Anblick) mar. Landgraf I was considered the most important sire of jumpers in the world. He passed on his athleticism and crossed with many lines. Lancer II (Landgraf I-Fantus; 1986, Holst.) represented the Ladykiller line. He showed with Lord Loxley (Lord Sinclair I-Weltmeyer; 1999, Rheinl.), winner at the Bundeschampionat as a young dressage horse. Sire Line Cor de la Bryere. An Anglo-Norman stallion brought from France, Cor de la Bryere (1971-1984, 1986) sired the dressage champion Corlandus out of a Landgraf I mare. His sons included Calypso I, Calypso II, Caletto I, and Caletto II. Calypso I and II sired both jumpers and dressage horses. A highlight of the show's last hour was a quadrille of the NRW (Nord Rheinland Westfalia) Quadrille, with 12 stallions from the Westfalen State Stud in Warendorf. The Hannoverian State Stud in Celle has been performing its quadrille for many years. Comparing the two programs, the Westfalens performed a more inventive routine. Their stallions, including the renowned sire Ehrentanz I, ended with all 12 riders cantering one-handed to the beat of the song, “Set Me Free.” The stallion parade was a showcase, and a nonstop advertisement for the German breeding societies. However, breeders do have the right to brag about their sires, because German horses won almost all the medals at WEG. Related Links |
