New Facility, New Faces, New Support for The Gold Coast Opener Dressage CDI Revisited

Horse Inspection Reveals New Faces, New Combinations

Charmayne Harrah brought two CDI entries from her home base in Nevada to spend the winter season in south Florida: New Holland (DWB x Holland), and Nienke KWPN x Emillion). Training with Volker Brommann who is competing the Optimist in fourth level, Harrah is ready to begin competing after an extended training season due to the EHV Quarantine.

Both rider and trainer were amazed at the facility as they settled the horses into the roomy permanent stalls on Wednesday. Harrah worked her horses on the newly renovated footing in the indoor arena, as did other competitors, clearly impressed with the efforts facility manager Van Den Neste had managed over the month long hiatus from shows.

Danish native Mikala Gundersen presented the Horses Unlimited Stallion, Galan du Serein to the judges’ panel during horse inspection ending speculation as to where the WEG and Olympic veteran formerly ridden by Cesar Parra, landed. Scheduled to compete in the Grand Prix, Gundersen has obviously bonded with the Selles Francais stallion by Apache D’Adriers, who jogged calmly for the inspection panel.

Junior Young Rider Gold Medallist Hannah Holland Shook has come to Florida with the former event horse, Cape Town with her eye on the 2007 Young Rider competition in August. Just turned 16, the tall attractive and talented young rider is excited to be spending her winter in Florida, and has joined her former Junior Rider teammate Amanda Stearns in school.

In Florida for the winter months USEF team coach Klaus Balkenhol and his wife Judith were present during pre show schooling session, clearly impressed with the new facility about to make its CDI debut.
