California Dressage in the Spotlight - A Dressage Affaire to Remember
By Lita Dove for DressageDaily.com

Mette Rosencrantz Comes into Her Own

Swedish native, Mette Rosencrantz has really come into her own this past year. With her Danish warmblood Basquewille (by Woernitz) she has been earning consistently good scores, and is aiming towards the Grand Prix Invitational at World Cup Las Vegas, as well as the National Championship at Gladstone. “Basquewille’s dam is also named Mette—Mette Smed” she laughs, “so I guess we were meant to be a combination.”

She found the now 16-year-old gelding in Denmark , and loved his work ethic from the first moment she sat on him, saying it is still one of his greatest assets. “First,” she reflects, “you get to learn the Grand Prix, and then you do it for a while, juggling all the components. Now, finally, I am beginning to feel like I own the Grand Prix rather than it owning me!”

Mette was head dressage instructor at Stromsholm, Sweden’s famous riding teacher school, before moving to the United States and becoming a U.S. Citizen. She will have to miss the League Finals, however, because she is the clinician for several of California Dressage Society’s Amateur Clinics this year, and one of the clinics is the same weekend. Still, she is enjoying the positive reaction and comments from riders.
