North American Junior and Young Riders’ Championships Kassandra Barteau Wins Two In a Row on Young Riders' Dressage Team Test
Barteau explained that they didn’t know the mare was in foal, but now a yearling named Sebastian, lives on Barteau’s family farm. Last year she won on Bentley, but just missed getting an individual medal. "It would be great if she could win a medal this year," conceded Mom Yvonne, but she was riding for her team today, and really pulled it off." Barteau and Gabriella were also the winners of the Collecting Gaits Farm Dressage Festival of Champions Young Rider division held in Gladstone, New Jersey in June. Young equestrians have come to the Championships from the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as a South American rider from Argentina, to vie for team and individual medals in the three Olympic disciplines of show jumping, dressage, and eventing. For many, the NAJYRC, the premier competition in North America for Juniors (age 14-18) and Young Riders (age 16-21) is their first experience riding on a team, as well as their first time competing under the rules of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), the international governing body for equestrian sport. “These Championships are truly outstanding,” said Rosalie LeBow of Platinum Performance. “We are proud to be a sponsor and to help educate these talented riders about the importance of good nutrition for their horses.” |
