Seburn and Devon Kane Currently Neck and Neck for the FEI Young Rider
World Cup Final in Frankfurt, Germany
Currently in the lead is Chelsea Seburn, and Rolex from Greenleaf, Idaho who now average a 71.45, after competing in two required CDI’s, the CDI-W/Y, Burbank, CA, and the CDI3*/Y/J Rancho Murieta, CA. Seburn rides and trains with Ernst Herrmann at Once Upon a Horse in Eagle Idaho, and travelled to California to compete in the required CDI events. But averaging a close second is North American Young Rider Gold Medallist, Devon Kane and Douwe, whose CDI-W/Y in Wellington, and CDI-W/Y/J in Raleigh, NC bring her average to a 71.334. Kane who is from Wellington Florida rides and trains with Olympian Michelle Gibson who bases her operation at the Kane's Diamante Farm. With only two CDI’s left to go, CDI Saugerties, and Dressage at Devon, both on the east coast, Kane and Jocelyn Weise and Lamborghini who currently are third with a 70.6, there is not only the opportunity to best Seburn’s average, but also a chance for any other Young Riders not aware of the qualification requirements to take a shot at this prestigious opportunity. The qualification period is January 1, 2007 – October 22, 2007. Qualifying scores are earned by competing in the FEI Young Rider Freestyle Test (Ed. 2006) in a CDI-Y during the qualification period. The two (2) best Freestyle results from these CDI-Y's will be calculated to determine each horse/rider combination's overall average. A minimum score of 65% is required for each qualifying test. The Sponsor and Organizer of this event will provide overseas horse transportation with Peden Transport. In addition, there will be no entry, starting, or stabling fees assessed (courtesy of the Sponsor). No application is necessary. USEF will automatically track CDI-Y Freestyle scores and maintain rankings for horse/rider combinations. At the conclusion of the qualification period, USEF will issue an invitation for the U.S. representative and will file appropriate paperwork with the FEI and Organizer.
