Viva Las Vegas Earns Honors as Highest-Placed American Bred

DahmerAward for the highest-placed American-bred horse during the National Developing Horse Dressage Championship was Viva Las Vegas (Art Deco – Kapri by Guardian), an eight-year-old Oldenburg gelding owned and ridden by Shannon Dahmer, of Rifle, Colorado. The gelding was bred in Colorado by Yarbrough Acres.

Dahmer was thrilled. “I’m excited because my best friend Jeri Yarbrough bred him.” Dahmer purchased the horse when he was five and has trained him up the levels herself. “This is the only way I can afford it – get them young and train them up.” She’s already been working on the Grand Prix movements and believes that the American-bred Viva Las Vegas will be able to compete on par with the European-bred horses. “I think breeding is getting pretty good in the U.S. and he shows it."
