Euro Update: Twelve Horses to the 2007 HKM Upcoming Grand Prix Horse Finals in Paderborn
Four HKM qualifiers were held this year. The kick-off was at the Horses & Dreams show in Hagen, followed by three more competitions in Heroldsberg, Balve and Langen. Twelve combinations were able to qualify for the big finals in Paderborn. They are:
It is worth noting that 3 of these 12 horses are former PSI auction horses. Limited Edition (by Lord Sinclair) sold at the 2003 P.S.I. auction to the Hartmann family, who still owns him and keeps him in training with Wolfgang and Sabine Egbers. Whizzkid (by Welt Hit II) sold at the 2001 P.S.I. auction to Mrs. Christina Ullrich. She still owns the horse, which is bred by Ullrich Kasselmann himself, and has the horse in training with Christoph Niemann. The third qualified PSI horse is Famous Boy (by Feiner Stern). The bay sold at the 2001 PSI auction to the U.S.A and was in the stables of David Wilson. He was bought back by the Kasselmann family as seven year old and is currently ridden by Bianca Kasselmann. Twelve Recruits Join British Young Horse Pathway Programme Some 50 talented young horses came forward for the British World Class Potential Elite Dressage Horse Selection Day at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Bucks, on 9 October 2007. A total of 12 of these will join the British World Class Dressage Equine Pathway Programme, which was launched by the British Equestrian Federation last year to identify and develop horses with potential to win medals for Britain. Senior selectors – David Trott, Judy Harvey and Nick Burton – assessed the horses with input from top riders Carl Hester and Emile Faurie as well as team trainer Ferdi Eilberg and team vet John McEwen. They selected horses are: Shadowfax (Ruth Edge), Khartoum (Rhett Bird), Royal Concert (Peter Storr), Cocofino (Peter Storr), Being Bling (Tim Sillevis), Vivaldi (Jo Barry), Falcao (Nicola Cooper), Rivaldo (Karen Shepherd), Der Schufro (Jacky Stolper), DCI Walkenswaard (Matt Frost), Lenox (Daniel Greenwood), and Vanito (Hannah Esberger-Shepperd) First Wish, Excalibur of Avalon and Hermes, 2007 Swedish Young Horse Champions First Wish, Excalibur of Avalon and Hermes became the winners of the 2007 Swedish Young Horse Championships held at the Flyinge State Stud in Flyinge, Sweden, October 19-21, 2007. The 4-year old championship was spread over two rounds and Swedish Grand Prix champion Jan Brink rode the black stallion First Wish (by Furst Heinrich x Welton) to the national title. The lovely pair scored 87,320 in the final round and won the trophy. The 5-year old division was won by the Westfalian stallion Excalibur of Avalon. Ridden by Jennie Larsson and owned by Lovsta Brood Farm (Tinne Vilhelmson), the bay stallion by Ehrentanz I x Mon Cheri won all three rounds of the Championship. In the finals he totalled an overall of 87.467 and was the undisputed winner of the class. The licensed stallion sold last year to Sweden through the Munster Elite Auction for 300,000 euro. In the 6-year old division, it were routiniers Anne Svanberg and the chestnut licensed stallion Hermes that took the champion's title. Svanberg and Hermes (by Rambo x Urbino) scored 87.289.
