Euro Update: Wayne's Column: Is Judging Corrupt or Just Inaccurate?

Meet Wayne Channon, Eurodressage's newest columnist. In 1993 Wayne put his successful career in high-tech and internet technology on the back burner in order to devote more time to his dressage career. He was Grand prix champion at the 2005 Sunshine Tour, short listed for the 2004 Athens Olympics and member of the British Team at the 2005 European Dressage Championships and 2006 World Equestrian Games. Wayne (49) is outspoken in his ideas on the development of dressage and has clear visions on how to improve the health, efficiency and marketing of the sport. Julia Chevanne, 2007 French Dressage Champion

Last weekend, Julia Chevanne became the 2007 French Grand Prix Dressage Champion at the French national championships in Saumur, France, November 2-4, 2007. Aboard her Hanoverian gelding Calimucho (by Cavalier), Chevanne won the final Grand Prix kur to music with 73.60% and claimed the overall title in the championship.

Hubert Perring and the Selle Francais bred chestnut Diabolo St Maurice (by Plein d'Espoir) became the reserve champions, just like in 2006. They won the Grand Prix Special with 67.76% and were in the lead, but mistakes in the canter pirouettes in his freestyle put them in silver medal position.Remy Issartel and Hilton du Clotobie, a Selle Francais by Ulahk du Chateau, claimed the bronze. Dein Wunschtraum, Price Highlight 2007 Verden November Auction

Dein Wunschtraum became the price highlight of the last auction of the season in Verden, Germany. The 3-year old dressage prospect by Don Frederico x Don Primero sold for 45,000 euro to a dressage stable in the Nordrhine Westfalia area.

Felina, a 4-year-old For Keeps x Laptop mare was the most expensive show jumping horse, purchased for 30,000 euro by a buyer from Baden-Wuerttemberg. Four brood mares were sold at averagely price of 14,250, euro. All of them were purchased by Hanoverian breeders from foreign countries. State premium candidate Farina by Florencia x Akzent II) was the top-priced mare and sold for 27,000 euro to the United States.

CDI Oldenburg: Van Baalen Wins the Big Tour

Former Dutch team rider Coby van Baalen and her black gelding Ojay (Jazz x Formateur) have won the Grand Prix and the Special at the CDI Oldenburg in Germany. With scores of 68.54% and 70.36% they won the entire big tour at this indoor event. Several Americans competed at this event. Kristina Harrison-Naness and the grey stallion Rociero made her mark by placing second in the Grand Prix with 68.083%. Debbie McDonald and the Hanoverian gelding Felix finished fourth with 66.667% while Lisa Wilcox and the Dutch warmblood mare Naomi earned 63.875% (9th) and Karen Offield-Reid and the Dutch warmblood stallion Lingh got 56.542% (20th). In the Special Harrison-Naness kanded a fifth place with 65.600%, while Wilcox scored 62.200% (8th) and Debbie Mc Donald 61.400% (9th). In the small tour Shelly Francis and Wig Wam (by Wolkentanz II) placed 10th with 63.250%. (View Complete Scores)
