Euro Update: Monica Theodorescu's Whisper Wins the 2007 Otto Lörke Preis

The chestnut Baden Wurttemberger bred gelding Whipser won the 2007 Otto Lörke Prize at the 2007 CDI Stuttgart in Germany, on Sunday November 18, 2007. Rider Monica Theodorescu, owner Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and his trainer the late Georg Theodorescu were honoured for having produced the most talented upcoming Grand Prix horse up to 10 years of age in Germany, to which the Otto Lörke prize is dedicated.

The 9-year old Whisper is bred by Lothar Wanner from Wangen, Germany, and is by Welt Hit I x Weltstar x Elfenglanz. In 2005, the chestnut was the winner of the Nurnberg Burgpokal Qualifier and in 2007 he was part of the German team that won team silver at the European Dressage Championships in Turin, Italy.

Monica Theodorescu and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff received the Otto Lorke Prize from Klaus Rheinberger, president of the Liselott Schindling Foundation for the Promotion of Dressage. Theodorescu received a check of 1,500 euro which was granted to the trainer of the horse, the late Georg Theodorescu.

Martin Richenhagen, New German Chef d'Equipe

Martin Richenhagen has been appointed chef d'equipe of the German Dressage Team that will compete at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong, China. The German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) decided upon this appointment during a meeting at the CDI Stuttgart last weekend.

The 55-year old Richenhagen is a highly accomplished director of several multinational companies. He is currently president and ceo of the American company Agco, a manufactury of agricultural equipment. Richenhagen is a judge at Grand Prix level and has judged, for instance, at the German Bundeschampionate and many CDI's, especially in the United States. He lives in Ostbevern, Germany and Duluth, GA, USA. He will take up his function as chef d'equipe as of the 2008 CHIO Aachen. Richenhagen is succeeding Ferdi-Jörgen Wassermeyer who resigned due to health reasons. (Read More)

CDI Stuttgart: Isabell Werth and Satchmo Unbeatable

Isabell Werth and Madeleine Winter-Schulze's Hanoverian gelding Satchmo (by Sao Paulo) won the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at the international dressage competition in Stuttgart, Germany. It was the first head to head of the German A-team members in a long time. Nadine Capellmann finished second with her Hanoverian gelding Elvis (by Espri). Ellen Schulten Baumer was the third best performing German in the Special finishing in fifth place. The Grand Prix Kur tour was also won by Werth aboard Warum Nicht FRH (by Weltmeyer). She scored the winning marks of 76.333 % in the Grand Prix and 79,300% in the Kur. American Courtney King was there too. Aboard Idocus, she finished eight in the Grand Prix with 66.542 % and eight in the Kur with 70,200%. In the Special tour, King saddled Mythilus to finish ninth in the Grand Prix (69.167%) and twelfth in the Special (65.080 %) (View Scores)
