Dressage Takes Center Stage at the Florida Horse Park this Winter
By Lynndee Kemmett for DressageDaily

Florida Horse Park Dressage Shows Continue to Grow in Numbers

Adam Latowska and Oleander from GeorgiaTo put it simply, the Florida Horse Park is the place to be this winter. Clearly, a lot of competitors are figuring that out because Lambert said entries are growing for the dressage shows, especially for the March show. Drawing competitors from neighboring states to the noth and west, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, many competitors will have the chance to jump start the new year earning qualifying scores for Regional and National Championships, under quality judges such as Jessica Ransehousen, Natalie Lamping Lorraine MacDonald, and Joan MacCartney.

But if dressage is not your sport, the Florida Horse Park is still the place to be and that’s true whether you’re a competitor or simply someone who enjoys watching good horses. The eventing world has discovered not only the Florida Horse Park but the region as well which offers larger farm tracks of land to train for the winter.

At the Florida Horse Park Dressage shows competitors share the warm up with to eventing stars such as Darren Chiacchia, and Karen O'Connor, honing their dressage skills for the upcoming Olympic Selection Trials. Their season will be topped off with the 3rd Annual Festival of the Horse & Florida International 3-Day Event, April 17-20, 2008. Well known quarter horse breeder and trainer Lynn Palm competes with students and her own young horses.

One thing Lambert won’t say, because she’s humble, is that members of the park staff, such as her, are also a good reason to show at the Florida Horse Park. As director of events for the horse park, Lambert has a simple goal that she works to achieve, whether it’s short term or long term. And that goal to make a visit to the Florida Horse Park memorable to everyone in the family.

“My own goal is that I just want to provide a really good show with a great surface for the competitors,” Lambert said.
