Picnic Atmosphere Prevails at Welcome Back to White Fences II Wins for Both Student Tacie Saltonstall and Coach Pam Goodrich and at Welcome Back to White Fences II
“Last year, I went through four months of cancer and then radiation. But I rode him every day except chemo day,” Saltonstall said of her year with cancer. “We did Prix St. Georges last year but it was just ‘ride the test and get through it.’ But this year, I really know how to do it. Last year the brain didn’t work very well when I was on chemo. This year is more about understanding how to ride the horse through the test.” Alten Gold is a 16-year-old International Sport Horse and Saltonstall said her rides on him at White Fences were “so much fun. I just loved it.” She also loves the fact that she herself now has wonderful hair to show off. “Last year I was totally bald from breast cancer treatment. This year, I have hair again – lots of it.” Saltonstall is from northern New York and trains with Pam Goodrich who she credits with first getting her through her year of cancer and now getting her into the winner’s circle. “Pam was just incredible with helping me last year. And this year, she’s helping even more.” |
