Dressage In California - Dressage Affaire 2008 at the Del Mar Horsepark

Olympian Debbie McDonald Supports Young Rider Holly Bergay

In the Young Rider Freestyle, Ashley Schempp on her Mowgli won with a 66 percent, followed closely by Holly Bergay Soliloquy with a 65. Bergay, who hopes to qualify for the Para Olympics this year rides with one fixed rein.

She has been supported by Olympian Debbie McDonald who has led the dressage community in helping Holly realize her equestrian pursuits.

After being fortified by a warm-up with Debbie McDonald and her assistant Adrienne Lyle Saturday morning, Bergay really went for it in her freestyle and dazzled the crowd. "I have invited her to come and work with me, hopefully a couple of weeks before Del Mar. We will just work on cleaning a few things up. She is amazing, inspirational, sincere, gracious and genuine all rolled up in one! She is truly a roll model."
