Shannon and Steffen Peters Join the Mushroom Matrix Equine Team
“We’re honored to have Shannon and Steffen join the Matrix Equine Team,” said Matrix Vice President Keith Manfred. “They are leaders in American dressage, not only because of their competitive successes, but also because of their horsemanship skills. And we’re certainly happy that they have chosen to include Matrix nutritional supplements in their feeding program. We know that as top competitors, Shannon and Steffen are very careful when it comes to managing the health of their horses.” Based near Del Mar, California, Shannon and Steffen are two of America’s leading dressage riders. In 2005, they were a big hit at the National Dressage Championships in New Jersey when, as newlyweds, they competed against one another for the title of national champion. They ended that competition with Steffen as the champion in the Intermediaire competition and his wife as reserve. Both Shannon and Steffen have had many wins at the FEI level of competition. And Steffen has represented the U.S. in numerous international competitions, including the Olympics, the World Equestrian Games and the Dressage World Cup. It was Shannon who was the first to try the Matrix – both on herself and her horses.
Matrix nutritional supplements are derived from medicinal mushroom varieties grown organically in the U.S. by Golden Gourmet Mushrooms of San Marcos, California. These mushrooms contain L-Ergothioneine (ERGO), an antioxidant far more powerful than that found in other substances such as beta-carotene and vitamins C and E. Antioxidants are the body’s defense system and aid in the prevention of cellular damage – damage that contributes to aging, injury, cancer and many other diseases. Rich in this vital antioxidant, Matrix supplements provide multiple health benefits for horses, including promoting healthy joints, reducing inflammation, boosting the immune system, increasing stamina and reducing stress and anxiety. The Peters have already noticed changes in their horses using the Matrix. “We have a couple of horses with anxiety trouble at competitions, which shows up in their lack of focus, spookiness and tension. Both horses have thrived on the Matrix and become more dependable and happier at the shows,” Shannon Peters said. The dressage couple is also testing the anti-tumor powers of the Matrix on a horse that has a sarcoid and Shannon Peters sees a difference. “I was curious if the Matrix would help, and it has. The tumor has decreased in size by about 30 percent.” Matrix nutritional supplements are available for horses, humans and small animals.
