Miami, FL - The exclusive equestrian community of Florida has long been an influential and trend-setting population. Fashion, jewelry, art, social events and horses all mix together and align beautifully within the luxurious lifestyles of elite equestrians. However, with their fast-paced show schedules and jam-packed social calendars, most equestrians have little time to worry about such things as the real estate market or the latest methods for buying and selling property, which could pose a problem when it comes to having to make quick decisions about re-locating or upgrading their facilities and farms to accommodate their horses. This is where the professionals at Platinum Luxury Auctions have stepped in to provide a perfect solution for both buyers and sellers of high-end equestrian properties, and in doing so, have sparked a new trend in luxury real estate sales.

Robert Dover (Photo: Eurodressage.com)

USPRE congratulates six-time Olympian Robert Dover, who has been named the new Team Trainer for the United States Dressage Team, replacing Anne Gribbons who resigned last September following the London Olympics. Robert's record of support for Team USA has been unequalled in the past - not purely in the amount of times that he has represented our country in world championships, but in his tireless fund-raising for the US Team and training of top US competitors. Robert Dover has always been outspoken in his support of PRE horses and USPRE. He has been an active Advisory Board Member since USPRE was founded, has judged the applicants for the annual USPRE Dressage Scholarships, has given platform to USPRE Board members over the years on his radio program Dover's World, is a registered breeder with the LG-ANCCE Studbook, and is the owner of a 2008 PRE stallion by Grandioso III which he sponsors in Dressage competition. Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with Robert Dover about his thoughts on PRE horses in international sport and their potential for competing at the highest levels in America.

Deborah Hausman and Alexiss at Knoll Farm, Chuliota, Florida, Alexis 2005 Holsteiner Mare (Caletino x Tjinja/Kennedy) PhelpsPhoto

Deborah Hausman who trains dressage horses and students at her Quailhurst Stable and Vineyard in Sherwood, Oregon, travelled over 3000 miles across the United States to Florida for the 2013 winter dressage season. With two young horses, Alexiss, a 2005 Holsteiner Mare (Caletino x Tjinja/Kennedy) and Verona, a 2002 Dutch Mare (Jazz x Glennridge) Hausman, her “girls” and her horse van towing her Austin Mini Cooper settled into a cozy studio apartment at Anne and Davis Gribbons’ Knoll Dressage near Orlando. Hausman, a longtime professional and breeder brought Alexis who she bred, backed and trained and Verona the mare she placed in the top 15 overall at the highly competitive PAVO Cup Young Horse series in the Netherlands. But they were not part of the original longtime plan. Hausman has trained and competed in Europe, works with Conrad Schumacher when he comes to the US, as well as competed on the busy California winter circuit, yet has always wanted to work with Gribbons. While her two young mares were worthy of the time and investment, they were not in the original plan. Deborah Hausman proves that starting over after loss is reachable. In 2012 a huge tragedy struck with the loss of her two FEI horses within a devastating six months.

The loss of farm personal property due to disaster or theft can result in significant replacement and lost opportunity costs. Farm personal property typically includes items such as tack, barn supplies, farm machinery as well as the farm office equipment like computers, phones, furniture, and a variety of other tangible assets that are a part of your agricultural business. Loss control strategies are as numerous as the potential events that can cause the loss. Following are some key guidelines to consider: Keep a current inventory of your farm personal property. Maintain receipts, serial numbers, and manufacturer’s information for easy identification in the event an item becomes damaged or stolen. Consider taking pictures or a video of your tack room or equipment inventory and store in a secure, off-site location. If you need to file a claim, this will facilitate the process and aid in the recovery of stolen items.

Sheridyn Ashwood continued her winning streak at the Sydney CDI winning the Grand Prix Freestyle in front of a capacity audience. Her win at tonight’s event concludes a dream run for the Queensland based rider who leaves the event with the Grand Prix treble. In taking victory Ashwood and her mount, the 16-year-old stallion Prestige VDL, toppled a class field which included Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle who was sixth to go in the field of 16 and set the bar high when they scored 71.13 per cent for which they received a roaring cheer from the enthusiastic crowd. Third last to go, Ashwood knew the score she needed to achieve in order to take the lead and armed with a more difficult routine which she changed following her earlier success at this event, she left the arena to loud applause and a score of 73.98.

Following her victory in Thursday’s Sydney CDI Grand Prix, Sheridyn Ashwood said she and her stallion Prestige VDL would only get better as the competition progressed. And she was right. Ashwood’s prediction came true at today’s Australian Sports Commission Grand Prix Special where together with the 16 year old bay stallion she took out the title with a super performance which blitzed the field. The Queensland based rider and her mount scored a personal best 70.37 and were the only duo to score over 70 per cent. The next best placed combination was Rozzie Ryan and GV Bullwinkle who scored 66.72. Ashwood is delighted to win but even more thrilled to achieve a mark with a seven in front of it. “I was in shock, I rode the horse down to the stables and the girls came in running and cheering. Then they told me I’d scored over 70 per cent and I was so excited.”

"We had a terrific training session at Oak Hill Farm in Illinois. There was once again a nice balance of U.S.-bred and imported horses," said USEF Young Horse coach Scott Hassler. "It was great to see riders I have worked with in the past with new horses as well as meeting some new professionals." The two-day training session held April 27-28 featured 11 horses between the ages of four and six. "The camaraderie, passion, and learning that went on there, in one short weekend, was inspirational," said participant Jessica Starck. "The passion Scott has for what he does, the love he has for the horse, and the knowledgeable creative approach he has to teaching is extremely prevalent. We all agreed we are proud to have him represent us." The open training session was attended by breeders, horse owners and local young horse enthusiasts, and their enthusiasm was not missed by Hassler.
