Wellington, FL - American Dressage super star Steffen Peters took a step toward defending his 2011 World Dressage Masters Palm Beach title by winning the WDM Palm Beach Nürnberger Grand Prix test with a record-shattering score of 81.383%. Not only is that a personal best result in a CDI Grand Prix for Peters and Akiko Yamazaki's 14 year old KWPN gelding, it is also the highest score ever attained in a WDM Palm Beach Grand Prix.
"I started to have the feeling I got from Ravel tonight in the last couple of weeks," said Peters after his decisive victory over the international field of 16 competitors. "I had this feeling at a show two weeks ago in California, but I had to risk it a bit more here. Ravel feels even stronger than last year and more supple. It was a blast to ride."

  • Schedule Change at World Dressage Masters Palm Beach

The audience and those watching the USEF live stream of the World Dressage Masters will be in for a treat as James Koford and Hanna Holland Shook's Pharoh (BLG by Ferro) now have the opportunity to perform their popular Freestyle which brought the audience to their feet at the Saugerties CDI this summer.

Wellington, FL  - Following Ashley Holzer's winning ride with Pop Art in the Wellington Classic Sunshine Challenge CDI3*, a qualifier for the World Dressage Masters Palm Beach presented by International Polo Club Palm Beach, competition organizer Wellington Classic Dressage and the WDM management found themselves faced with a sports issue that has necessitated a decision to amend the schedule of the show. American Heather Blitz on Paragon, second in the CDI3* Grand Prix behind Holzer and Pop Art, is one of the two riders who would have been eligible to be invited for the 5* WDM Palm Beach. Holzer, and third placed Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven of Sweden on Divertimento, are already competing in the WDM Palm Beach on other horses and are not permitted to enter with a second horse. Invitations were therefore extended to Blitz, who placed second in the CDI3*, and James Koford of the US, who finished fourth on Pharaoh.

  • USPREA Is The ANCCE PRE Studbook Collaborating Organization In USA and Canade as of February 1, 2012

Last year, during SICAB, a collaboration agreement was signed between USPREA (United States PRE Association) and ANCCE, by which the US association would begin, as of February 1, 2012, to work directly to handle Studbook matters through its office in Wellington, Florida.  This agreement is an advantage for breeders in North America (USA and Canada) as they will be able to work through USPRE thus facilitating direct and fluid communications. The agreement, signed in Sevilla by Kimberly van Kampen Boyer and Javier Conde as Presidents of their respective Associations, designates the North American association as a collaborator for the only official register of PRE horses in the world and that is backed by Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.

Mica Mabragana is a rising young star on the Florida dressage scene, but her resume is already full of accomplishments including several years of Grand Prix experience. At 25 years old, from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mica has been HGF's resident rider for two years in Wellington.

At the 2012 Gold Coast Opener in Wellington, HGF Rider Mica Mabragan debuted 11 year old Cuatrero in the National PSG and Intermediare I. Cuatrero (Cuatrera x Adelante) is the younger brother to Grandioso III, 2011 Grand Prix Champion of Spain. Cuatrero was last competed in early 2008 at 2nd level. Shortly after he went to Courtney King Dye, who was preparing him for the small tour at the time of her injury. Cuatrero returned to Hampton Green Farm, but developed a hoof condition that took many months to correct. Thanks to the patience and skills of Dr. John Steele and HGF farrier Mike Phillips, Cuatrero returned to work with Mica last summer. On Friday, in his first class in four years and first time ever at FEI-level, the pair placed in the PSG with a green 62%. On Saturday, Cuatrero was more on his game and Mica rode a beautiful Inter-1 to win the close-scoring class with 65.6. A spontaneous round of applause after the ride from the attending Judges' forum topped off the morning.
