Spectacular news from Gestüt Famos at the beginning of the new year: The Bundeschampion and record breaking stallion performance test winner, Callaho’s Benicio, will be stationed in Syke in 2012 and the cooperation with the Stallion Station of Ludger Beerbaum Stables has been wrapped up. "A great moment" was Christoph Hess' comment when Callaho’s Benicio made his appearance at the 2011 Bundeschampionat in the class for six-year old dressage horses. The judges gave him the dream scores of 10.0 for his trot and walk, a 9.5 for overall impression and a 9.0 for his canter. With that result, no competitor could take the title away from the dark chestnut stallion. Callaho’s Benicio even topped that result at his 30-day test in Schlieckau: There he received a 10.0 for his walk, trot and canter. Overall, he received the highest possible score ten times. The weighted final score of 9.14 meant a clear victory. His final score with emphasis on dressage was 9.88 (estimated breeding value in dressage: 167 points) and with that result, Callaho’s Benicio even topped the record result of his sire, Belissimo M, who received a 9.63 at his performance test in Zweibrücken in 2002.

  • On the Road to 2014 – The Halfway Mark!

With the London Olympics well behind us, all eyes are now turning to 2014. In Normandy, the emphasis is on initiatives that will get the whole region into the starting blocks. The focus is on getting the organisational side of things right and thereby guaranteeing the success of the equestrian world’s biggest event.
"The Normandie 2014 Organising committee is right on schedule with regards to its road map and benefits from the complete backing of its partners. Valérie Fourneyron, Minister for Sport, has also been to Caen to reaffirm the French state’s commitment to the project. We are all working to ensure that this major international event will live up to expectations and be able to really mobilise everyone in both Normandy and further afield. In addition, it should also provide long-term momentum in one of the finest horse countries in the world." Laurent Beauvais, President of Normandie 2014 Organising Committee.
"2012 was an important year in Normandy for the organisation. Significant progress has been made in expanding the Organising Committee's sports team as well as in the selection of service providers and in making accommodation arrangements. Further headway will be made in 2013 which will be a key year. There's a really close cooperation between the FEI and the Games' Organising Committee. Our teams are working in harmony and with great enthusiasm to ensure that the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy are the most successful of all time." Ingmar De Vos, FEI Secretary General

Organizers of the World Dressage Masters presented by Axel Johnson Group have been informed that the stallion Totilas and his rider Matthias Rath of Germany will be unable to attend the WDM Palm Beach presented by International Polo Club Palm Beach, which is set to take place January 26th to 28th. "I received a call this morning from Paul Schockemöhle, one of the owners of Totilas," said WDM Palm Beach organizer Noreen O'Sullivan of Wellington Classic Dressage. "I am very sorry to announce that Totilas will not be able to compete in this year's World Dressage Masters Palm Beach. The owners feel the horse has just returned to light work after an injury and would not be ready for this event. We have already invited Totilas and Matthias to our 2013 WDM event. The owners and Matthias were very disappointed they would not be able to attend this year's WDM Palm Beach but also said they look forward to accepting our invitation for next year if the horse is going well."
