BURBANK, CA - West Coast riders continued their journeys toward qualification for the Olympic Games today in San Juan Capistrano, CA at the Festival of the Horse CDI 3*/Y/J Presented By HorseShow.com.  An international field of 41 CDI horses vied for critical qualifying scores in the Grand Prix, Intermediaire I, Young Rider, and Junior divisions before FEI judges Gary Rockwell (5*USA), Mary Seefried (5* AUS), Jane Weatherwax (4* USA), Lorraine MacDonald (4* CAN), and Gabriel Armando (3* ARG).  Steffen Peters (USA) and Four Winds Farm's ten-year-old Westfalen gelding "Legolas 92" (Laomedon x Fuerstin by Florestan II) continued their winning ways in the CDI Grand Prix Test with an impressive score of 75.255%. The Dressage and Jumping with the Stars CDI W Grand Prix Freestyle was the perfect finale for 3 fabulous days of equestrian entertainment and Victorian rider Maree Tomkinson aboard her flashy mare Diamantina by Diamond Hit won their first Grand Prix Kur and put the world on notice that WEG 2014 is in their travel plans. Diamantina also won the Grand Prix test so went into the freestyle as the one to beat. Overcoming the "first to go" nerves, Maree put together a high quality test which had it all and kept the others following for the rest of the evening. Diamantina is very reactionary in a big atmosphere but Maree was able to coax the flamboyance whilst soothing the tensions that can cost concentration and harmony.

Wellington, FL - Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) would like to announce that a limited number of permanent stalls are available for rent at The Stadium at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) as of April 15 through the upcoming summer and fall season. Riders, trainers and owners in any discipline can stable their horses in the beautifully constructed, brand new permanent stalls with access to all of the PBIEC's great amenities. The stables at The Stadium were constructed to house the competition horses for the inaugural Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, which took off with leaps and bounds this winter, but the venue was built for multi-discipline use. The desire is to bring the many members of Wellington's equestrian community together with the hope that horses and riders from many other backgrounds and interests would be able to use the facility throughout the year.

Wellington, FL - Adrienne Lyle, 27, and Wizard took the top award at the Global Dressage Festival (GDF) in the FEI Grand Prix at the $120,000 5* West Palm Beach, presented by Diamante Farms.  Their score of 73.021% placed them well above Anja Plonzke of Germany on Le Mont d'Or, who received 71.851% to come in second, and Ashley Holzer of Canada on Breaking Dawn with 70.957% for third place.  Lyle works as an assistant trainer for Debbie McDonald at Peggy and Parry Thomas' River Grove Farm. She and McDonald brought six horses for the Florida winter, among them Wizard (Weltmeyer - Pica, Classiker). Lyle was given the ride on Wizard because her height was a better fit with the gelding. "Debbie is tiny and Wizard is huge so she said, 'Why don't you try him?' And we just clicked," Lyle said of the 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding.  Lyle and Wizard proved that they belong among the twenty elite competitors in the Grand Prix. A month ago they were having some struggles in the piaffe - passage movements at the GDF show grounds, but have made a strong comeback in the 5*.
