Jane Forbes Clark and Arlene "Tuny" Page Elected to U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation Board of Trustees

The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation announced the election of Jane Forbes Clark and Arlene "Tuny" Page to its Board of Trustees. Clark, 50, of New York City and Wellington, FL, is active in international horse sports, both as an owner of dressage, show jumping and driving horses and having represented the United States at the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). Page, 48, of also of Wellington, is an active international competitor and most recently competed at the 2005 Collecting Gaits/USEF National Grand Prix Championship.
Frank V. Lloyd, chairman of the Foundation board, said of the election of Clark and Page: "These two women possess enormous skills and knowledge of high-performance equestrian sports and other activities that will benefit the Foundation tremendously in helping us fulfill the vital role of raising funds to field the best United States teams in international competition."
Clark is well known in the horse world as the owner of many horses that have represented the United States in Olympic and World Championship competition, including three horses that Robert Dover competed for team medal-winning performances at the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympic Games, as well as a show jumping horse at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and a four-in-hand team medal at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Spain, among many others.
Clark is also a guardian of America's Pastime as Chairman and Director of the Baseball Hall of Fame that her grandfather established almost 70 years ago in Cooperstown, NY, the location of the family enterprise that is now one of the largest foundations in the United States of which she is President and Director. She was born, raised and educated in New York. Her involvement in charitable and governmental organizations is extensive, ranging from numerous causes in Cooperstown and surrounding areas and New York City and State. Clark was President of the American Horse Shows Association, forerunner of the United States Equestrian Federation, the national governing body of the sport, from 1991 to 1996.
She also served on the FEI governing board as Bureau Member and Chairman of Group IV and as an Executive Board member, and as a Director of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Clark was Senior Vice President and Trustee of the United States Equestrian Team when that organization held overall responsibility for fielding and funding of teams for international competitions.
Page has been riding since early childhood. Her parents sent her to England as a teenager so she could focus on developing her three-day eventing skills. On her return to the United States in the late 1970s, she took up riding as a fulltime career. Through her success as an eventer, she had her initial contact with the U.S. Equestrian Team as a student of then-three-day coach Jack Le Goff at USET Headquarters in South Hamilton, MA, and based herself there throughout the 1980s, establishing herself as a top coach and trainer. She later switched to dressage and by the 1990s was producing horses for the U.S. team's long list and the developing squad. In 2001, Page and her Holsteiner mare, Claire, were awarded a grant to train and compete in Europe. The pair was successful at grand prix and was ranked seventh entering the selection trials for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. She is currently competing Wild One, a 9-year-old Hanoverian gelding, at FEI-level competition finishing second in the 2005 USEF National Grand Prix Dressage Championships.
Page, her husband, David, and daughter, Charlotte, are awaiting the completion of the construction of Stillpoint Farm in Wellington to be Page's primary training center, as well as a base for other top riders. Page is a member of the USET Foundation Development Committee and devotes considerable time to fund-raising and development for Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center in Palm Beach County, FL, of which she co-chairs the annual charity auction and fund-raising for Vinceremos.
