A Tale of Gentle Loving Care, Yoursano and Motherhood

On both of my trips to California in 2011, I had the pleasure of meeting Segrid Lunde and her daughter, and then visiting Whispering Meadows Rescue Ranch in the Temecula region north of San Diego while traveling around with my good friend Keith Manfred owner of YourSano Equine. Keith has been spreading the word of the powerful and healing products based on mushrooms. These are not your father's mushrooms, as people from the 60's often chuckle when hearing about it. “Whispering Meadows Rescue Ranch” owned and tended to by Segrid Lunde, her husband Dusty and their children. Segrid’s directives, albeit softly spoken, are confident and purposeful; the soft pitch of her voice compassionate and caring.

Shariya, a German bred thoroughbred mare who was supposed to be euthanized while in foal suffering a severe case of Laminitis. After being on YourSano Nutrition, at Whispering Meadows Rescue Ranch she survived and thrived, and her foal was named after the product!

Just over a year ago ‘Shariya’, a German bred thoroughbred mare became Segrid’s primary concern.  This mare had a promising racing career but due to injury, had a career change and became a brood mare.  It is thought that Shariya had five foals (four of which found their way to and were adopted out of Whispering Meadows).   Shariya would no longer be bred by these owners and was shipped to the Rescue Ranch (A 501C3 Charity) with a four week old foal at her side and in foal.  This mare’s problems were not known, prior to Segrid’s consent to accept this horse.  The owners/trainers suggested that Segrid continue to keep Shariya in shoes because she was tender, sore and walking with difficulty.  After being shipped from the breeding farm to Whispering Meadows, Segrid decided to wean  the foal at five months because Shariya was losing weight – maybe as a result of lactating and gestating.  Unfortunately it soon became clear that the problem was more severe and she continued to lose weight, stopped eating and could not get up.  Laminitis was the diagnosis and after national and international remedies and suggestions nothing seemed to be working.  Finally euthanasia seemed to be the most humane course of action.  Segrid was distraught and heartbroken.  As fate would have it, the vet was notified but was unavailable for the next week.

At this point, Shariya was kept as comfortable as possible and Segrid and Dusty went off to their favourite winery, Masia de Yabar, for a quick glass of wine.  In comes Keith Manfred from YourSANO Equine; hears the story and offers a possible solution of Mushroom supplements from YourSANO.  Segrid said “What the heck – we’ll try any gimmick someone comes up with!”  After five days of being on YourSANO Mushroom Products, Shariya started to get up and her kidneys started to function.  By the end of the week her hooves had stopped bleeding, she was able to stand and she gobbled her food.  The Vet was cancelled and by week four of YourSANO Nutrional Products, Shariya was going in and out of her paddock and eating and gaining weight at a rapid pace.

Shariya carried her foal to term and delivered a large, tall, leggy colt named “AfterSANO”, whom she nursed for six months.  AfterSANO carries his name proudly as one of the descendants of the famous “Soughtafter”.  Shariya has continued to gain weight and is now a fine, shiny, healthy rideable horse!!  The Vet has been amazed by the remarkable recovery made by this horse because the majority of horses, with such severe symptoms, are unable to recover.  When the time came for new shoes, the ferrier had difficulty nipping through the hoof. 

YourSANO Nutritional Products: It was initially suggested to Segrid to double the dose of YourSANO, but Segrid tripled the dose. One scoop in the morning, one at noon and one in the evening.  After eight weeks, the dose was cut to one scoop in the morning and one scoop in the evening.  Shariya is now on a maintenance dose of YourSANO – one scoop a day!

Celoo had been on YourSANO for some months when he was bitten in the face by a baby rattlesnake. The vet was called in and he was surprised to notice that there was none of the usual sloughing-off. The puncture wound healed quickly and size of the scab was that of a dime. Within six days the wound had completely healed.  It is surmised that as this horse was on the YourSANO products prior to the snake bite his immune system was stronger and inflammation was at a minimum.  Segrid rubbed the YourSANO powder directly into the wound as well as on Celoo’s food.

A Quick Tale of a Speedy Recovery - Tarmac
“Whispering Meadows” Rescue Ranch, lends itself once again, through the stewardship of Segrid and Dusty Lunde, to solve the health issues of ailing horses. Tarmac got shin-splints so the race trainer pin-fired him. The recovery for such a procedure is usually two months. Segrid packed the holes with YourSANO Nutritional Mushroom Powder and within two weeks Tarmac was well on the way to recovery. There was no infection and only three of the forty holes were “a little bit oozy”.  Segrid tended to the wounds of Tarmac with YourSANO internally and externally.
