sexton2Susan Sexton longtime professional equine photographer passed away peacefully and surrounded with love and family Wednesday, November 11. Susan Sexton and her work as an equestrian photographer went beyond the norm. A pioneer in the equine photography industry in the United States Susan was well known and loved across the country. Her ability to reach inside the soul of the horse and bring that vision to life is what has always set her apart as one of the most sought after photographers by major farms and breeders throughout America. Sexton who retired (sort of) moved to Mexico several years ago, was settled into the artistic community she enjoyed when she had her first bout of Leukemia.

She returned to the United States and her health improved. Susan began working again and teaching her art. For Sharon Packer of HorseSportsPhotogrpahy.com who took this image, her final years at home was an amazing gift. Just a few months ago Sharon and colleagues Pat Girard and Eric Olsen had the opportunity to have a private clinic with Susan in North Carolina. “If there is a heaven, I know you are sharing it with horses." Packer posted on Facebook. “You are missed already. Our condolences to your family.”
