Thursday, 04 March 2010 07:37
One of America's top dressage riders, Olympian Courtney (King) Dye suffered an accident yesterday afternoon, March 3 while schooling at her farm in Wellington on a young horse. It was reported that the horse Dye was riding had a simple slip and fell. Dye was knocked unconscious and was taken by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in North Palm Beach, Fla. She has a skull fracture and some small brain bleeds and is being kept heavily sedated. Courtney's father, husband Jason and longtime trainer Lendon Gray are at her side. As of this morning the swelling has gone down, and she has been moved to ICU. Dye was scheduled to ride the stallion Don Principe (not the horse she was riding) this weekend at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby in the small tour in the CDI.
