seidel-trinitySpectators of Saturday’s Intermediaire class at the Dressage Affaire, at the Del Mar Horse Park, in Del Mar California, had the opportunity to watch dressage riding at its finest as three-time Olympian Guenter Seidel rode Dick and Jane Brown’s 11 year old KWPN gelding Trinity through a beautiful test and to a winning score of 72.737%. The veteran rider’s polish and experience in the competition arena along with Trinity’s steady temperament has allowed the horse’s first year competing in CDI’s to be highly successful. Trinity is by the KWPN stallion, Flemming who has produced many top dressage horses.

Two other Fleming offspring also competed in the Dressage Affaire CDI: Orion and Mister. Elizabeth Ball competed 14 year old Orion in the Grand Prix CDI and Canadian Jennifer Wood competed 16 year old Mister in the FEI Young Rider classes.

Seidel was happy with Trinity’s performance in the Intermediaire I. “He was better in this test than in the Prix St. George because he was more through in the I-1. He was a bit flat in the PSG.” When asked if he will take Trinity to Gladstone to compete in the Festival of Champions, Seidel said, “I will take him if UII qualifies to go in the Grand Prix. UII is green at the Grand Prix, but shows much promise. Both he and Trinity have the piaffe and passage at home. UII is in his first year at Grand Prix CDI’s, and I can’t really ask for him to piaffe on the spot in the test yet. But, I look to the future. He is coming along so well. WEG (World Equestrian Games) is more than six months off, so he could be ready by then.”
