The US athletes and horses are heading to Europe this summer to tune their engines for next years, World Equestrian Games. It’s not all glam and glitter for these top Grand Prix horses and riders. The clear path for a North American is a tough, long and treacherous plane ride, many van trips, a ferry for some, with the athlete all covered in hay and bedding during the trips. Aiming for the highest honor, competing for the US and planning a tour on the CDI circuit for the international stage takes planning, budgeting, fundraising, hard work, and sacrifice. Costs involved in competing at the FEI levels involved many aspects beginning with the cost of quality horse flesh, their maintenance, show fees, travel budgets, training and always preparing for the unexpected. Whether a rider and horse is supported in part by a benefactor or not, sacrifices are always made, as this effort becomes full time often pulling the trainer from their students and livelihood. National organizations and the efforts of the USET Foundation to assist in training and expenses have increased especially approaching a World Equestrian Game (WEG) year. Getting on the short-list next year will be an achievement itself, but we all know it’s that invasion of Europe that’s going to make the USA take over that podium.

Arlington, WA - After more than three decades of breeding top sport horses, Sylvan Farm's Judy Hedreen announced her retirement. Hedreen has been a fixture in the industry since becoming the first Executive Director of the American Hanoverian Society in the late 1980s. During her tenure as head of that organization, and for many years thereafter, Hedreen worked tirelessly to develop an exceptional herd. "Retirement comes with mixed emotions," explains Hedreen. "I have enjoyed the journey, relished the successes, made many friends along the way and most of all lived a life-long dream." As part of Hedreen's retirement, Sylvan Farm will offer the majority of their herd to bidders around the world. This is the first and only time for this type of offering.

The inaugural copycat Global Dressage Forum NA staged a clear format in how to share top competitor knowledge with top judging knowledge.  The format taken from the European Global Dressage Forum with a curtain, interview area, and panel discussion was truly a blessing in the purity of the learning.

The dialogue and discussion between the demonstrators and the panelists centered on important issues, the training of the dressage horse for the international competition arena. A beautiful layout for the stage, the opening of the curtain to the arena, and then a closed curtain panel discussion made the viewing format super interesting by showcasing lifelong learned philosophies by top riders and coaches.

The differences in lifelong learned theories by each of the demonstrators was simply amazing. The willingness to first share their childhood influences in a television interview high-back chair area of the stage, then second teaching or demonstrating the horses training behind the opened curtain, and finally the closed curtain questions by the panelists was simply outstanding.

Miami, FL - The exclusive equestrian community of Florida has long been an influential and trend-setting population. Fashion, jewelry, art, social events and horses all mix together and align beautifully within the luxurious lifestyles of elite equestrians. However, with their fast-paced show schedules and jam-packed social calendars, most equestrians have little time to worry about such things as the real estate market or the latest methods for buying and selling property, which could pose a problem when it comes to having to make quick decisions about re-locating or upgrading their facilities and farms to accommodate their horses. This is where the professionals at Platinum Luxury Auctions have stepped in to provide a perfect solution for both buyers and sellers of high-end equestrian properties, and in doing so, have sparked a new trend in luxury real estate sales.
