Young Talent on the Rise

Dressage rider Rebecca Cohen is a 16-year-old teen rider on her way to the top. Still in the midst of her exciting junior career, Rebecca, who rides out of her family's Two Swans Farm in Wellington, Florida, has set goals that also include transitioning to Young Riders. Rebecca competes her 17.2 hand Westphalian gelding named Downtown and during a very successful 2012 winter circuit they earned a 70% in the FEI Junior Individual Test. That score was a milestone for Rebecca, one she hopes to repeat or best in the very near future!  When she is not horsing around, Rebecca is a pretty normal kid, with very good grades, who likes to shop with friends, text until her fingers hurt and hang out with her friends. Rebecca plans to become a lawyer and believes she will be a good one thanks to her excellent negotiating skills.  “I practice them on my mother!” she said.

Rebecca began showing dressage in the pony divisions with great success.  She competed her first pony, Sally Be Good, at Introductory and Training level when she was just seven years old. She then competed a number of ponies, including the stunning palomino pony, Day of Diva, Sleeping Beauty (aka) Dornroschen 241, and her handsome Danish Sport Pony stallion, Tai Calido. Rebecca moved up from the pony division to the Junior division and hasn’t looked back. Rebecca experienced a fantastic 2012 winter show season with Downtown, fondly called Daddy, and again has her sights set on competing at the 2012 USEF Festival of Champions and the NAJYRC in Kentucky. Rebecca isn’t a stranger to the NAJRYC - in 2010 she was on the Region 3 Junior Team and helped her team bring home a bronze medal. In 2010 she also earned a spot in the top 12 riders in the country to compete at Nationals and was the Region 3 Champion 3rd level and FEI Junior Rider.
